DUTO visits the Maryland School for the Blind

The past January 21 2012 DUTO joined a technical visit to the Maryland School For the Blind (MSB). The visit was organized by Dr. Tom Yeh, a researcher in the University of Maryland interested in develop projects in accessibility.

The Maryland School for the Blind is a private organization that attends visually impaired children and young adults up to 21 years old. Each year the school serves 73% of the 1,800 students identified in Maryland who are blind or visually impaired.

The objective of the visit was to discuss research possibilities and the different technologies used in the school for supporting the learning of graphics from blind students. The meeting was held with Mr. Michael A. Plummer, Curriculum and Assessment Coordinator and Mr. Joshua Irzyk, professor at MSB.
